 The Piazza delle Erbe is the hearth of Mantua. The ancient center of the city with the tiled round roof of the little church of San Lorenzo, the Renaissance tower whose astrological clock still tells the time. Separated by the Piazza delle Erbe, there is the tiny Piazza Broletto, then the third and grandest square is the cobbled Piazza Sordello where the Bonacolsi were expulsed: that is the scene of Domenico Morone 1494 painting: ask to see it in the ducal Palace. MORNING: guided visit in the Old Town and in Piazza Sordello where a Domus Romana has recently been found.
